OM181 Weed Control Train

Compact, precise and customizable solution for railway weed control

Weed Control Train OM181

The modular system for railway weed control

The Weed Control Train OM181 is the solution developed by La Falco for managing vegetation along railway lines. With its dual driving cabins and advanced spraying system, it efficiently and precisely distributes herbicidal products while in motion, ensuring high accuracy, long operational autonomy, and environmental safety.

Train composition

The Weed Control Train OM181 consists of a main machine equipped with two driving cabins, one at each end. Each end is fitted with spray nozzles: three fixed for track treatment and two adjustable for lateral coverage.

At the center of the train is the spraying module, which includes a high-flow water pump, two injection pumps for concentrated herbicides, and two 200-liter tanks. The water needed for spraying is supplied by external tank cars, such as the HC812 model produced by La Falco, which are essential for the system’s operation.

Spraying system

The distribution system is designed to ensure full coverage and precision.

Each end of the machine features three fixed nozzles for the track and two adjustable side nozzles for lateral areas. All nozzles are controlled by independent shut-off valves and a pressure regulation valve.

The system is managed by an electronic control unit that offers two operating modes: manual, where the operator sets and maintains the pressure and dosage parameters, and automatic, where the system adjusts spraying based on speed and the number of active nozzles.

As an advanced option, cameras can be installed to recognize vegetation and activate the nozzles only where needed, optimizing water use and minimizing unnecessary treatments.

Operational performance

The Weed Control Train OM181 can operate at speeds up to 30 km/h. Movement is allowed only under track possession, as required for maintenance vehicles.

Operational autonomy depends on the amount of water carried by the connected cisterns. With a 36,000-liter water reserve, the train can cover up to 60 km.

The machine is powered by a 160 kW diesel engine with hydrostatic transmission. Higher power configurations are available upon request.

Safety and environmental protection

The system is designed to ensure maximum environmental safety. The water in the cisterns is always clean, as the herbicide is only injected during the spraying phase. In the event of a leak or malfunction, there is no risk of environmental contamination.

Available customizations

The Weed Control Train OM181 can be customized with various accessories and additional features. Options include:

Cameras for recording the work performed.
Monitoring and telemetry systems for operational parameters.
A communication module connected to the La Falco client portal, enabling access to dashboards, interactive charts, and download of work history.

Key strengths

The Weed Control Train OM181 stands out for:

The modular system, with external water cisterns that keep the machine compact and easy to transport.
A high level of automation, allowing operators to set parameters and let the system manage operations.
Operational flexibility, with adjustable dosing, pressure, and treated areas.
Environmental safety, thanks to product injection occurring only during active spraying.
